Explore the Chitwan Jungle Safari, an exciting adventure in the lush forests of Chitwan National Park in Nepal. This tour offers a chance to discover exotic wildlife and experience the unique culture of the local inhabitants.

During this 2-night, 3-day tour, you’ll venture into the tropical forests of Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your journey begins with a scenic drive 148km south of Kathmandu to Chitwan district. Along the way, you’ll pass through beautiful forested hills and the Trishuli River.

Upon arrival in Chitwan, you’ll check into your hotel in Sauraha, located inside the national park. In the evening, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll around Sauraha.

The next day, you’ll embark on a thrilling Jungle Safari into the heart of the national park. You can choose between an elephant safari or a jeep safari to explore the forest and spot wildlife. You’ll also visit the Crocodile Breeding Center and Elephant Breeding Center.

In the evening, you have the option to visit a nearby Tharu village or take a peaceful walk along the Rapti River. Chitwan National Park is home to endangered species like the Royal Bengal Tiger and One-Horned Rhino, so keep your eyes peeled during the safari for a chance to spot these majestic creatures.

The tour concludes back in Kathmandu after your return from Chitwan. You can embark on the Chitwan Jungle Safari Tour throughout the year, but the best weather and accessibility are during the spring (Mar-May) and autumn (Sep-Nov) seasons.

  • Day 01: Drive From Kathmandu to Sauraha | Evening Village Walk

    After breakfast, we’ll start our journey to Chitwan in southern Nepal. We’ll drive along the winding Prithvi Highway until we reach Mugling, and then we’ll head south. Along the way, we’ll pass through Bharatpur. When we arrive in the Chitwan district, we’ll be greeted by vast stretches of lush tropical forests that extend for miles. In the evening, you can take a leisurely walk along the Rapti River or explore the Sauraha market. We’ll spend the night in Sauraha.

  • Day 02: Full Day Jungle Safari /Elephant Riding/Crocodile Breed Centre

    Morning:

    Today, you’ll go on an exciting jungle safari in Chitwan National Park. You’ll start early and head to the nearby station where you can hire an elephant for the safari. There will be many elephants available for the safari. As you explore the jungle, you might see various exotic animals like leopards, hyenas, foxes, crocodiles, deer, and monkeys. You might even spot the rare Great One-horned Rhino. Alternatively, you can choose to explore the forest in a private jeep with a guide and driver.

    Noon:

    After the safari, you’ll return to Sauraha and visit a Tharu village. The Tharu tribe, along with other tribes like Danuwar, Darai, and Majhi, are the indigenous people of the Chitwan valley. You’ll also visit the Elephant Breeding Center and Crocodile Breeding Center. If you have time, you can visit Beeshazari Tal (Twenty Thousand Lakes) or take a canoe ride down the Rapti River. During the canoe ride, you might see crocodiles on the riverbanks.

    Evening:

    In the evening, you can enjoy a delicious local meal while watching a traditional Tharu folk dance called the ‘Stick dance.’ This dance is performed by the Tharu tribe every year. You can experience this cultural performance while savoring local cuisine. You’ll spend the night in Sauraha.

  • Day 03: Drive back to Kathmandu

    After breakfast, you’ll go on a short tour to watch birds around the area. Chitwan is known for having many different kinds of birds. You might see birds like Cormorants, Blue Indian Rollers, Hornbills, Grey-Headed Eagles, Kingfishers, Bengal Floricans, and Asian Paradise Flycatchers. There are more than 500 types of birds in Chitwan!

    After the bird watching tour, you’ll get ready to leave Chitwan and head back to Kathmandu. The drive will take about 6 hours and you’ll follow the Trishuli River on the Prithvi Highway. You’ll stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
