Gokyo Lake Trek

The Gokyo Lake Trek in the Khumbu region is an extraordinary adventure, though it can be quite challenging. It takes you to some of the highest points in the area and offers a chance to visit the Gokyo lakes, which are among the highest freshwater lakes in the world. The trek also includes climbing Gokyo Ri (5360m), where you’ll enjoy stunning views of the snow-capped Himalayas. Along the way, you’ll experience the unique culture of the Sherpa villages.

The journey begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. From there, we trek to Phakding, enjoying views of Mount Kusum Khangkaru (6367m) and Thamserku (6608m) along the way. Next, we head to Namche, a Sherpa town where you can see Mount Everest (8848m) from Hotel Everest View. The trail then takes us through Himalayan settlements at Dhole and Machhermo before reaching the Ngozumpa Glacier, the largest in Nepal.

Continuing on, we reach Gokyo village, where we’ll enjoy views of six glacial lakes. The next day, we hike up Gokyo Ri (5360m) for even more breathtaking views of the highest peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. Finally, we retrace our steps back to Lukla before flying back to Kathmandu.

This trek is challenging, as you’ll reach an altitude of 5,360 meters. It’s best done in the Spring (March to May) or Autumn (September to November) seasons.
