Mera Peak (6,476m) is the highest trekking peak in Nepal and offers an incredible climbing experience. The trail takes you through lush forests, glaciers, and small Sherpa villages, offering breathtaking views along the way. It’s a top adventure choice in the Himalayan region, allowing you to explore the stunning Makalu Barun National Park.

The 19-day Mera Peak Climbing journey starts with a day of sightseeing in Kathmandu, where you’ll visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The next day, you’ll take a short flight to Lukla and begin trekking towards the Barun Region, passing through Sherpa villages like Chutang and Kothe.

As you trek through the pristine Makalu Barun National Park, you might spot rare wildlife like the Red Panda. From Khare, you’ll ascend to Mera Peak Base Camp, tackling snow moraines and crevasses along the way. Using ice-axes, crampons, and fixed ropes, you’ll summit the peak and enjoy panoramic views of the Barun valley and nearby peaks like Everest and Lhotse.

After reaching the summit, you’ll descend back to Lukla via Khare, Kothe, and Zatrwa La Pass. The trip ends back in Kathmandu. Mera Peak is best climbed during the spring and autumn seasons.

Start your adventure with a tour of UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu Valley. Spend a day preparing for the trek while exploring the vibrant capital city. Then, hit the road to Arughat, where your trekking journey begins. Trek along the picturesque Budhi Gandaki River to Soti Khola, then onward to Machha Khola, immersing yourself in the simple yet fascinating lifestyle of the locals.

As you continue, you’ll pass through villages like Deng, Samagaon, and Bimthang, where you’ll experience the rich culture influenced by Magar, Tamang, and Tibetan traditions. Witnessing the customs and history of these ethnic communities adds depth to your journey. The highlight is reaching Manaslu Base Camp and conquering the challenging Larkya La Pass, offering stunning views of Mount Manaslu and other peaks.

The trek concludes with a descent to Tatopani and Syange, followed by a drive back to Kathmandu. The best times to embark on this adventure are during Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November).
