Upper Mustang Trek

The Upper Mustang Trek is an adventurous journey into one of the most remote regions in the world, bordering Tibet in the north. This 17-day trek offers a blend of historical, cultural, and natural experiences.

Starting from Kathmandu, the trek begins with a cultural tour of the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Then, you’ll travel to Jomsom via Pokhara to start your trek. Moving north along the Kali Gandaki valley, you’ll pass through charming Buddhist villages like Kagbeni, Chele, Syanbochen, and Tsarang before reaching Lo Manthang, known as the ‘walled city.’ Lo Manthang was once the capital of Mustang and still reflects strong Tibetan influence in its lifestyle and culture.

After exploring Lo Manthang, the trek continues north to Niphu, Garphu, and Ghar Gumba (Buddhist Monastery). Then, you’ll trek back to Jomsom via Dhakmar, Ghiling, Samar, and Kagbeni. The trip concludes with a trans-Himalayan flight from Jomsom to Pokhara, before returning to Kathmandu. Along the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Annapurna I and Mt. Dhaulagiri.

The best time to embark on this trek is from March to late December, with June to September being particularly favorable.

Tilicho Lake Trek

The Tilicho Lake Trek is a fantastic adventure for those who want to see stunning mountains and lakes. Tilicho Lake sits at a high altitude of 4919m, making it the highest lake in the world. It’s located in the Manang District of Nepal’s Annapurna region. The trek offers breathtaking views of mountains and follows a beautiful route.

The 18-day trek begins in Kathmandu, where you’ll visit UNESCO cultural heritage sites. Then, you’ll take a full-day drive to Chamje, where the trek starts. You’ll follow the Marsayangdi River trail, passing through villages like Tal, Dharapani, Chame, Pisang, Manang, Khangsar, and finally reaching Tilicho Lake. From Tilicho Lake, you have the option to cross the Moesokanta La pass to Jomsom instead of the Thorang La pass. However, you’ll need additional camping gear as there are no lodges in these areas.

After Tilicho Lake, the trek descends to Yak Kharka, Thorang Phedi, high camp, and eventually to Thorang-La pass. From there, you’ll enjoy views of the Dhaulagiri massif before trekking down to Muktinath, Kagbeni, and Jomsom. The trek concludes in Jomsom, where you’ll fly over the Kaligandaki River gorge, the deepest gorge in the world, to Pokhara.

The Tilicho Lake trek connects with the Annapurna Circuit route, one of Nepal’s most popular treks. Along the way, you’ll pass through the beautiful village of Manang, home to people from various ethnic groups and cultures. The scenery is breathtaking, with stunning mountains and picturesque hills. You’ll also encounter monasteries, gompas, and traditional Buddhist villages.

The Tilicho Lake trek offers a diverse range of cultural and natural experiences, from lush green hills to snow-covered landscapes and dry valleys. The best time to embark on this adventure is from March to May (Spring) and September to November (Autumn).
