The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a famous adventure in Nepal’s Annapurna region, suitable for all types of trekkers. It explores the stunning Annapurna Conservation Area, taking you to the charming villages of Ghorepani and Ghandruk, nestled in the foothills of the Annapurna mountains. A major highlight of the trek is Poon Hill, offering breathtaking 360-degree views of the surrounding hills, Kali Gandaki gorge, Annapurna Conservation Area, and the Himalayas.
Your journey begins with your arrival in Kathmandu, where you’ll embark on a scenic sightseeing tour of the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Then, after a drive west to Pokhara, you’ll continue northwest to Nayapul, the starting point of the trek. From Nayapul, you’ll hike uphill through lush sub-tropical forests to Ulleri, then climb stone steps to reach Ghorepani village. An early morning hike to Poon Hill offers a stunning sunrise and panoramic views of Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri, and Hiunchuli.
Descending from Ghorepani, you’ll trek to Tadapani and then to the traditional Gurung village of Ghandruk, before returning to Nayapul. From there, you’ll commute back to Pokhara and drive back to Kathmandu. The Ghorepani Poon Hill trail is accessible year-round, with the best weather during spring and autumn.
